The UNIPEN inquiry '97

How many sites are still using UNIPEN and how far are they from the UNIPEN benchmark?

Louis Vuurpijl and Lambert Schomaker

At the ICDAR'97 conference, we are planning to hold a UNIPEN meeting. At the meeting, we want to present an overview of the current state. We hereby kindly request for your cooperation.

By filling in the form below, we will be able to answer the following questions:

  1. Is UNIPEN still alive? (it is in our Department!)
  2. And if so, how large is the UNIPEN community currently active?
  3. What releases of the NIST/UNIPEN distributions do they use?
  4. Are people ready for the benchmark, or are they willing to participate in a benchmark now?

The UNIPEN benchmark will consist of isolated digits, characters and words, but also of "free text". Please indicate below if you are ready to handle one or more of these. Also, if you are interested in participating in only a part of the benchmark, please tick the last column of the benchmarks you are willing to try. We are thinking about the possibility of holding such a reduced benchmark before the end of this year. The benchmark will probably be done using the data in the development test set, of which already two versions were released.
